Best Ayahuasca Experience
Casa de la Luz was everything me and my boyfriend were hoping for. As soon as we pulled up Andrés was super warm and very inviting. We felt so safe and guided through our ceremonies, and loved that it was a private retreat, just the two of us.

Andrés's ability to communicate fluently in English really enhanced the therapeutic experience. There is a lot of evident care and love in his property that you can immediately feel upon arriving. I never felt safer anywhere else during my entire week-long excursion through Costa Rica.

My husband and I did the three day retreat. It was just right for us. We felt safe and cared for during our entire experience. It was a beautiful experience with beautiful people who welcomed us, cared for us and gave us delicious healthy meals. We will be back!
A Great Private Ceremony
Me and my boyfriend wanted to experience an ayahuasca ceremony and when we found Casa de la Luz, we decided it was the right place for us. Andrés is very welcoming, and he creates right away a trustful, warm and calm environment. We appreciated having a private ceremony in a remote location in nature, fully disconnected from the world.
The Perfect, Authentic Ayahuasca Experience
For several years I picked up and put down plans for an Ayahuasca journey, unable to resolve a tension between wanting an authentic experience tightly focused on Ayahuasca and feeling confident I could accurately identify online a retreat that would offer enough guidance and insight to help me process the experience. I was generally turned off by the resort-style vibe that many retreats offer, because I only really wanted to experience Ayahuasca. But resort-style retreats seemed predictable and safe-looking, demanding less of a "leap of faith." Then I found a review for Casa de la Luz, and the description clicked — a simple four-day private retreat outside San José, with two ceremonies focused on the Ayahuasca and no offers to upsell "additional" medicine or experiences. I could not have been happier with my choice. Casa de la Luz is his family's home in rural Costa Rica. I had a private room, simple and rustic, and his mom cooked fantastic traditional Costa Rican food — it made me sad to eat in San José. Andrés was a fantastic guide. He speaks English fluently and has a lot of experience with Ayahuasca and psychedelics, which made it easy to talk about my experience productively. He has a calm, chill, mindful vibe that was relaxing and reassuring, and a curious mind — through him I discovered I have aphantasia, the inability to produce images in my mind. It's a condition that only got a name in 2015 and affects roughly 4% of people, hardly well-known. Andrés knew about it specifically because he is curious and engaged with the mind and the world. I doubt I'd have gained that insight from a traditional shaman in a jungle hut, or at a resort with 20–30 other participants. In the end it seems Aya isn't for me, since I can't see mental visions — but Casa de la Luz was 100% the perfect experience for me, and Andrés the perfect guide. Authentic, safe, and genuine — I recommend it to anyone considering an Ayahuasca journey.
